November Stamp of the Month Cards

I'm having trouble logging on to change the web site today, so I decided to post the stamp of the month cards on the blog. Each month we get a board from Great Impressions Stamps with pre-made cards showing how to use each of their stamps. They also offer one of those stamps as their Stamp of the Month which is 50% OFF that whole month. In our class we create 2 additional cards using their selected SOTM and some of the stamps from that board. The class is only$5.00 and you take home a photo of the pre-made board, a project sheet explaining how to make each card and of course the 2 cards we make in the class.

Family mini-album

We have this class scheduled for 10am on Saturday morning (Nov.1st). We'll make this sturdy Family mini-album with KaiserCraft Beyond the Page covers and covered chipboard pages. There are still spaces available to make the whole album for just $15. This one has 6x6 pages and lots of coordinating felt and ribbon pieces. Just call 812-882-0860 to sign up today.
Please bring your wet adhesive and if you are bringing your photos, don't forget your photo trimmer.

Scrapbooking for posterity

The other day I was looking through one of my scrapbooks and realized that a particular layout was one of my favorites. This was surprising because it is so simple and I usually prefer busier layouts for a creative release from the stress of daily life. But what set this one apart was the story behind the picture - which I had actually journaled. Everytime I look at this page, I read the journaling and it takes me back to that time.
Isn't that really the point of these scrapbooks we create, to preserve that moment in time. Obviously I can't journal about every page any more than I can scrapbook every picture I take. But, I can start carrying a small journal with me to capture the thoughts when they come to mind. So I will be more prepared (and more practiced) when I am putting a layout together.

So, whether it is the cute things that my niece just said, or thoughts on life in general - I am recommitting to journaling more.

Downtown Vincennes Pumpkin Hunt

Today the trick-or-treater's were downtown. It was fun to see all the costumes, some were very creative. We didn't have much time for picture taking, but we did get to give out a lot of candy.

Vincennes Pumpkin Hunt is tomorrow

Getting ready for the Vincennes Pumpkin Hunt. Different stores down Main street participate in SAFE Trick-or Teating for kids. We joined in the fun last year and can't wait to see all the costumes this year. We donated 3 small prizes for the costume contest. Here is a peek at them.

Our First Tag Sale

We had a very busy day here at the store. Today was our first ever tag sale where customers brought in items from home that they were done using and were ready to let others enjoy.
All they had to do was call ahead for a number (which they used instead of initials), price their items, and drop them off the Thursday before our sale. We kept 10% of the total sold and they received the rest in a store credit.
Thank you to everyone who brought in items and to those who stopped in to shop the bargains.

Book A Private Class

Today I spent a few hours with some ladies from Olney. They couldn't make it to scheduled classes so we booked their own class time. They wanted a mini album class and our popular Stamp of the Month card class. They picked the date and we did both classes on the same day to save driving time.
If there is a class you would like to take and you can't make the date we have selected. All you need to do is have a group of three or more and we will schedule your own class time.
They each picked the paper they wanted to work with and made these beautiful albums.
The back of this one is so cute I had to take a picture.

Mini album projects

I am a few days behind on this, but last week we had a good day to work on projects. Gina and Lori joined me for part of the day. And let me take pictures of the projects they were working on.
Lori created this adorable train mini-album from KaiserCraft.
While Gina was assembling her Boo mini-album, one of the Shabby Pink Designs kits.

Christmas Card workshop

I had such a fun day today. Janet P. came over and helped me create several different Christmas cards for the Christmas card workshop. On Saturday, Nov. 8th and Tues. Nov. 11, The Scrapbook Tree is offering this workshop where we make 4 of each of these cards. A total of 20 cards for just $15. I think this may be the last year we'll do that many for just $15, but we'll see. Each one has a different saying on the inside.

The ornaments in the circle are shimmery gold in real life. Unfortunately too often the photos just don't capture everything.

World Card Making Day

The first Saturday in October is World Card Making Day. This day was created especially for card makers around the world, to share their creativity of handmade cards with friends and family. Giving that personal touch to each card shows how much they care.
Great Impressions -Stamp Of The Month- card class is the first Saturday of every month at The Scrapbook Tree. This month was extra fun since it fell on WCMD.
Everyone who stopped by to join in the fun could create this FREE
make-n-take Christmas card.
Throughout the day, everyone could enter the drawing for a card maker's package. It included a papercrafts magazine, Bazzill cardstock with envelopes to match, Instant Expressions rub-ons, outline stickers, 2 stamps, and a white Inkssentials pen.
Congratulations!!! Lynn Murphy
You are the winner.
We hosted our first card swap. It was a Christmas Card theme. Some very talented people made some beautiful cards. I can't wait to host another card swap and see what they create. To see the cards from this swap check out the card gallery on our web site at http://thescrapbooktree.com/gallery.aspx .
For more card samples you can visit http://www.worldcardmakingday.com/ and click on share to view.

It was a busy day, but so much fun. We had a lot of regular customers stop in and some new ones just found out we were here.

Thank you to all our customers for telling your friends about our store.
